The Abolitionist Plunge includes:
- Bible Study - emphasizing themes of slavery and freedom
- Survivor Interviews
- Street Outreach with the Salvation Army
- CATCH ("Changing Actions To Change Habits") Court program for women rebuilding their lives after being prostituted
- Freedom a la Cart - survivor-run food cart business
- SOAP ("Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution") outreach at local hotels
- Flyering at bus station, truck stops, and nail salons
- Using the arts to fight trafficking
- Exploring Fair Trade
- Discussions with lawmakers, with leaders in law enforcement and social work, and with those who minister to "johns"
7 days, 6 nights in host homes (Columbus students will commute from home). Meals included.
Cost to participate: Early bird rate $180 (deadline is 2 weeks before your Plunge week begins);
after that, cost is $200. A nonrefundable, nontransferable $50 deposit is due when registering.
Final deadlines (unless other arrangements have been made): Feb. 27 (Plunge #1) and March 12 (Plunge #2).
